Halo CE stands for Halo Custom Edition. It’s a standalone multiplayer client of Halo (no campaign mode) that’s free to download for all owners of Halo for PC. The main difference between CE and the basic multiplayer mode in Halo PC is the ability to use custom maps and content. Using the HEK (Halo Editing Kit), people can create their own maps and weapons and bipeds, and really, whatever the hell else they want. They can then distribute these maps over the Internet for others to download and play on.
